Space Weather News for Dec. 19, 2010
    http://spaceweather.com

LUNAR ECLIPSE: For the first time in many years, northern winter is beginning with a total lunar eclipse. On Dec. 21, 2010, the date of the northern winter solstice, the full Moon will pass through Earth's shadow, turning the lunar orb a delightful shade of coppery-red. Sky watchers in North America are favored with an overhead view as the eclipse unfolds on Tuesday morning between 02:41 am and 03:53 am EST. Visit http://spaceweather.com for full coverage of the event including live webcasts, observing tips, and a look at the surprising connection between lunar eclipses and Earth's climate.

    Hey Ranald,
Thanks for the info on the Lunar Eclipse. I had heard about it but hadn't gotten the chance to really find out much. Not sure if I can stay up that long but I will try.

Hopefully my daughter and son-in-law, plus the two young grandsons (4 1/2 & 2 1/2) will see it,they will be on the "Snow Train" enroute from Vancouver to Jasper on 21st (Saw Ridge Inn) then off for 4 nights at Fairmont Chateau, Lake Louise which is the final leg of their US/Canada holiday, that will be their final destination before returning home 30th Dec. they have already seen Vancouver, San Diego (Seaworld & Zoo) my daughter swam with the dolphins :cool:, also had three days at Disneyland. So now our "Family Christmas" will be New Years Day.
