    A dear friend from western Scotland introduced me to Eddie Reader's music some years ago and her "Eddie Reader Sings the Songs of Robert Burns" CD is always near the top of the clutter 'round my music collection. I think Reader's charm is that like Burns himself, she distills the old tunes and lyrics into a flow that is pleasant to the contemporary ear without losing the original charm. I expect the Bard would approve.
