  • NAME EQUIVALENTS - English or Latin ... to Gaelic

While struggling to find how an unknown Christian/or/first name to me, I came across the following site which may be of interest to researchers.

The one that interested me was from the 1590's and was 'written as heard', which made it very confusing,

The name in question was Mwriche, which I take to be the first or second in the Gaelic side of the following.

    Murdoch/Murdo/Maurice/Muricius – Muireadach/Muireach/Murcha

The English ones on the left side, have as yet, not been recorded in my family tree.

Perhaps I am barking up the wrong 'tree' ! ;-)
