  • Jackson Hole Scottish Festival, Jackson Wyoming

The Wyoming Highlanders Scottish Society was incorporated in May of 2001, and is an IRS recognized non-profit corporation. We were created to stimulate and sustain an interest in Scotland and its heritage, both in Teton County and throughout the State of Wyoming . Many families of Scottish and Celtic descent settled in the Rocky Mountain areas, beginning with the fur traders, trappers and mountain men. The Wyoming Highlanders host the annual Jackson Hole Scottish Festival on the third weekend in August each year. It features bagpipers, brawny Scottish heavy athletics, Celtic music, dancing and authentic Scottish foods. This is a way we can provide education in the history, music, traditions and culture of those who have Scottish or Celtic heritage. We sponsor other social settings, such as the annual Robert Burns dinner in January/February, and the Feast of St. Andrew in November. These gatherings help bring together people of Scottish and Celtic heritage. We now offer the Dave Cameron Memorial Scholarship, an annual secondary scholarship for a student looking for a career in law enforcement or criminal justice. We also perform and support other charitable good works as may be reasonable and appropriate. We warmly welcome new members to the Wyoming Highlanders Scottish Society.

The 2011 festival will be held in Jackson, Wyoming August 19 - 20 at the Teton County Fairgrounds.

For anyone wanting to See Wyoming's spectacular Grand Tetons in the month of August, this festival could make the trip doubly worthwhile.
