  • Program gives greyhounds a new life {Australia)

Uploaded by NewsOnABC on Jul 29, 2011

A program in Sydney is retraining retired greyhound racing dogs so that they can become domestic pets.

This is a real "Feel Good" story.:smile:

    Hey Gordon,
Thanks for that video. Here in the US we also have programs to train greyhounds to become great pets and then find them homes. It is so important. I don't think they get too much love being race dogs. Sad in a way for sure.

In the U.S., the greyound type utilized for racing is known as an IGA greyound. The larger showdog is the AKC greyhound. I believe that the best thing that can happen to the IGA animal is to be adopted, as it has opportunities for interaction with humans, other animals and some quality of life rather than being imprisoned in a kennel between races.
