I am unsure about where I found this little snippet, but obviously, I wrote it out on scratch paper, for the purpose of sharing it on ES. Found it again today, & decided to put it on!

In explanation: Burns was at a fancy dinner, and one of the guests spoke of nothing but dukes, & lords with whom he had supped & dined. Burns scrawled these lines on a scrap of paper & handed it around to the amusement of the company, and the utter discomfiture of the "toady."

The Toad-Eater

What of earls with whom you
have supped,
And of duks that you dined
with yestreen?
A louse, sir, is still but a
louse,
Though it crawls on the
curls of a queen?
