    What's for dinner?

Peanuts and a glass of wine - I am so bushed! Still kicking back on the damage Irene delivered. Tomorrow I start on the plumbing of the new electric furnace. Oldest son came back from the West Coast for a week and did a terrific job of mounting it on a wall in the basement besides many other tasks. Another reason I am bushed - keeping up with him. I did comment to him that I was making great strides modernizing the house. He replied, "Except the inhabitants!"

Well, my prattle does remove the previous. If I don't get back on board soon I wish all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!! and all the best in the New Year

    Re: What's for dinner?

Hey, Lizzie...This is the type of meal I tend to eat in the evening....something fairly light. I skipped lunch today, Sunday, as I accidentally "slept-in" later than my norm. My supper this eve will be a portion of homemade turkey veg soup, as I freeze parts to have for later eating. Turned out well this time, although not always!!! Sorry you have so much work, as I see myself in you with your travails!!! Ha, ha! Joan

My son came over last night to fix a couple of my outside chairs which were coming apart. I made baked baramundi stuffed it with lemon, butter and olives. We had boiled potatoes and broccoli.. It was very nice..

    Re: What's for dinner?

I just had a big bowl of home made Scotch Broth. When the cold weather sets in I get around to making home made soups and usuakly make enough for around 8 good servings.

My father used to tell me that when he was a boy he'd come back from school to find a big pot of Scotch Broth bubling away over the fire. He could get two bowls with bread and butter for his dinner.

And talking about bread and butter I mind when I was a wee chap I was taken to visit some old friends of my mother. They ran a wee croft in the borders of Scotland. I mind how they put out bread and butter and rasperry jam. I think I was on my fifth slice when I noticed my mo0ther glaring at me! <grin>. I of course now know they were very poor and I was on my way to eating them out of house and home. But the bread and butter and jam were all home made and it was absolutely delicious.

    Alastair
