  • Battle of New Orleans, by Johnny Horton

Here's the video I found, & this is exactly the way I remember it. (I was in England when I first heard it!!) Hope you all enjoy! P.S. Donna's responsible for my looking for it!!! Ha. Joan

Did get a kick out of seeing this, but noticed the lip syncing that old Johnny was doing! Also, the army under Jackson would NOT have been wearing WHITE!!!! Fun, though, to bring back old times!

Yes Joan, really liked it..... sounds like I used to remember it.

However will you contribute to a new carpet, as my shoes have made holes keeping in time to the rhythm !

        Hi Joan,

I did exactly the same thing after reading Donna's item, my excuse is we all have good taste in old[er] music.

Fun pictures to accompany Johnny Horton's song.

Now you must admit that "Little White Dove" is rather cute.

Slightly "off topic" but still, some good fiddle music and common them:cool:

            Kaw-Liga - Hank Williams

Kaw-liga, was a wooden indian standing by the door
He fell in love with an indian maid over in the antique store
Kaw-liga - a, just stood there and never let it show
So she could never answer yes or no.

He always wore his sunday feathers and held a tomahawk
The maiden wore her beads and braids and hoped someday hed talk
Kaw-liga - a, too stubborn to ever show a sign
Because his heart was made of knotty pine.

            Chorus
poor ol kaw-liga, he never got a kiss
poor ol kaw-liga, he dont know what he missed
is it any wonder that his face is red
Kaw-liga, that poor ol wooden head.

Kaw-liga, was a lonely indian never went nowhere
His heart was set on the indian maiden with the coal black hair
Kaw-liga - a, just stood there and never let it show
So she could never answer yes or no.

Then one day a wealthy customer bought the indian maid
And took her, oh, so far away, but ol kaw-liga stayed
Kaw-liga - a, just stands there as lonely as can be
And wishes he was still an old pine tree.

Hey....Gordon...I first of all didn't know that Indian guys & gals were so sexy & attractive!!! I also didn't know that Indian squaws actually wore bustieres, or showed skin like that!!! If all the Indian males were that CUTE, take me out to the "res". (between you & me, I secretly think that some of us'ns, have lost a few marbles, what do you think???)

Seriously though, I agree that some of us really do like the older songs/music. Thanks!! Joan (or Little White Dove, only slightly older!)

PS: I also remember Hank Williams singing the Kaw-liga-a song from when I was about 6-9 years old. Curious about WHEN it actually came out!?!

I'm perfectly sane , the people who dress me in my 'Little White Sportscoat" [arms laced around the front] tell me I'm quite normal [??? ]
Apparently the little room with all the padding on the walls they leave me in is to keep me undisturbed as I rule the world
