  • The famous Forth Rail Bridge in Scotland

On BBC Scotland today they have an interesting article on the Forth Rail Bridge.

Remembering those who lost their lives during construction, and those whose
continued maintenance has kept the structure safe all the years.

This next link is within the above, and will work even if the above does not.

A pity the video was taken during the course of maintenance, as the temporary 'buildings'
block a possible view of Edinburgh.

Thanks, Ranald, for posting the above. After observing the 360 degree picture, I am slightly "sea sick". However, I do remember seeing the Forth bridge back in about 1959, when I was a late teenager. I cannot remember what color it was painted then....but perhaps green? We stood on the shore to see it. Edinburgh is a place that I'd like to return to eventually. Who knows when?! Joan

Joan, last year while browsing sites about Canada, I was amazed to find a similar bridge in Quebec.

The one there has only two main structures, by comparison with the three on the Forth.

It was also strange that they also have a road bridge adjacent, and with (similar to the Forth road bridge) two (twin) main supporting towers.
