  • March for Independence

I can't find the post on this theme so I thought this is as good a place as any.
The last poster seems to have a pretty thin skin, either that or is not on very firm ground. I'll leave it at that other than to say that I've just been reading that the organisers are still very short of funds. Does that mean the people of Scotland echo my sentiments. Still do not know who they are but they have apparently resorted to spending some of the money they have received on buying lottery tickets. Of course this is to help the March.

    Re: March for Independence

Hi my name is Anne and I am one of the main organisers of the march. I have organised several large marches in the past for the Save the Scottish Regiments campaign so am well versed in organising this type of thing. I would be more than happy to give you a full bio on organisers if you wish.
Re the lottery tickets we actually buy them out of our own money as a donation to see if we can boost funding.
I find your negative comments really unhelpful and would ask in future if you would just contact us by email and we will answer any questions you may have.
Please be assured we are completely transparent and will answer anything you wish to know.

    Anne

      Re: March for Independence

I think there are usually two views on everything and then shades of grey. It's a bit like the NATO question. It seems to me that an Independent Scotland should be a member of NATO as the members are people we would want to work and trade with. Part of the problem seems to be we don't want nuclear weapons on our soil. However being a member of NATO doesn't make having nuclear weapons mandatory. I would be quite relaxed about it taking several years to get rid of them to allow NATO to re-organise where they'd be stored.

        Re: March for Independence

The first march was held at the weekend there. Apparently 5000 people turned up - it was a nice day.
King Alex of course addressed the crowd but there were others too...
Comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli, lawyer Aamer Anwar and writer Alan Bissett attended the event along with representatives from groups including Scottish CND, Young Scots for Independence and Citizens Against Public Service Cuts...

I used to go to CND Marches when I was young. It was fun to be a "rebel".
I would love to find out the age mix of the marchers...
