    The 'Pyrenean desman'

    Pyrenean desman: On the trail of Europe's weirdest beast

    From the video, you will gain an idea of the animal size, and note the long tail.

    For those not able to view the BBC, then their introduction (with some photo) ia attached in MS Word.

    It is below the photo attachments, as 'worlds weirdest beast.doc'

    Hey, Ranald....Now that the BBC sites are working for me, I was able to watch your video. The desman looks something like our tiny little shrew, although the desman is much bigger. I don't know if shrews swim, either. Funny little creature. Does look the size of a hamster, too. Joan

    Looks to me like it may possibly be related to the platypus.
