Terry Johns composer & Alastair Savage violinist
Tuesday, 16th October, 7.30pm @ 25 Palmerston Place, Edinburgh -
We are hosting a special concert by Scottish Musician, Alastair Savage and famous composer Terry Johns. Alastair will be playing a piece specially composed by Terry Johns for our First Anniversary concert.
Alastair is a fiddle player, born and raised on the Ayreshire coast. He has always kept in touch with his traditional roots whilst studying, playing regularly in ceilidh bands and other folk groups. He is also a member of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and works regularly with other groups throughout the country as a chamber musician and as a traditional fiddle player.
Terry is a well known composer. He is best known for his affiliation with the London Symphony Orchestra. He has played on famous film soundtracks such as Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and even Superman. (He played the famous horn solo at Darth Vader's funeral!). Also he is well know for his writing of the theme music for the famous show "The Pretenders", and has played along side great artists such as Barry White, Paul Simon and Paul McCartney.
This is also a tribute to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (author of Sherlock Holmes), and will be completed by the playing of the famous string quartet of instruments carved from the tree that stood in the great manís garden in Edinburgh! Truly a unique experience, followed by a chance to mingle with the Artists!
