  • Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church

Due to an email I got in today I learned that this church is recording their Sunday service each week onto YouTube. I had a wee listen to this weeks service and learned that a couple from Canada were visiting.

The page I've created for them is at http://www.electricscotland.com/bible/dalzeill.htm

The specific page you can go to for the services are at http://www.dalzielstandrews.org.uk/w...ious-services/

Here is the service for 10th February 2013...

    Hello Alistair:

When I spotted the 'Dalziel' (pronounced DeaeL) I thought it had to be Motherwell. Never did research the origin of Dalziel. Have you any information on that? Dalziel High School (also Carluke H. S., Coltness H. S, and Motherwell F.C Boys Club) was involved in the soccer exchange I organized with Scotland as President of the local soccer club back in the '80s.

There is a gazetteer entry for Dalzeil on the site. I'll have a look around for any history of Motherwell and Dalziel and see what I can find.

There was an estate of the landed gentry by that name located between Motherwell and Newarthill. Probably was the name of the owner.
