  • Scotland's only Territorial Army Field Hospital

Welcome to the 205 (Scottish) Field Hospital (Volunteers) section of the Army website. We are Scotland's only Territorial Army Field Hospital.

We are a hospital just like any other with the same highly trained clinically current professionals providing first class healthcare delivery, as you would find within the NHS.

The Army Medical Services (AMS) Reservists are employees of NHS Scotland; same people, different environment.

Territorial and Reserve Service are a vital component of the Armed Forces.........they do a great job and deserve our thanks

Our personnel can be deployed to Operations across the world providing secondary healthcare to both soldiers and civilians during conflict, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations.

On their return the experience, leadership and additional skills from working in challenging environments are then transferred back into their careers within NHS Scotland.

In their spare time AMS Reservists train to adapt their medical or healthcare experience to challenging military environments such as temporary Field Hospitals in specially adapted tents or buildings while using simple but current equipment.

Training undertaken can be medical, military or leadership instruction as well as sport and adventure training. Opportunities are available to learn and instruct and both skills are encouraged. As a member of the TA, employees can undergo courses not normally accessible to them while getting paid.

To quote one of our nurses: "It's a different way of spending your free time, away from the daily life of working within the NHS, which provides additional income and a fantastic annual tax free bonus. The training given is challenging but doesn't interfere with external commitments you may have. Joining the TA has helped me to develop my confidence and leadership abilities in ways you never thought possible."

As well as trained secondary care medical and healthcare professionals, we also need dental nurses and technicians, chefs, electrical and mechanical technicians and qualified drivers and clerical staff. So you could have the chance to extend your knowledge and expertise into new areas.

If you think that you are up to the challenge of the ultimate spare time activity, are aged between 19 and 43 (or have any specialist medical skills) and are interested in finding out more about becoming a TA health professional, just pop in to one of our Sqn locations.

Training evenings take place every Wednesday between 7.30 and 9.30 pm. Alternatively you can use one of the links provided throughout this website to contact us. Give us a call on 0845 6038761 and we will show you around and let you know what being in the TA is all about.

There's no obligation to sign up - so why not give it a try? We have both a Regimental Headquarters and a Squadron in Glasgow with other Squadrons in Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh. Check out the Squadron locations by using the left hand navigation links.

For further information on the careers opportunities available just click on to the careers link on the left and then follow the links provided on the right hand panel. For serving members and their families, information on the forthcoming Op HERRICK is available on ArmyNET.

Our Regimental Headquarters is located on the south side of Glasgow at Graham House, Govan. 205 Field Hospital (V) is made up of the following Squadrons:

    •A Squadron - Aberdeen
    •D Squadron - Dundee
    •E Squadron - Edinburgh
