Hi Alistair, I have included the various datails about Butter Bean soup:

    Ingredients:
    Whole packet of split peas
    Two onions
    One tin of Butter Beans
    Two chicken cubes
    One bulb of garlic

    Recipe:
Put chopped onions in lots of water and put on low gas
Add bag of split peas shortly after
Put lid on pot and leave to simmer, but keep an eye on it and stir when needed to avoid peas sticking
After going to pulp add two chicken cubes and one bulb of garlic
Then add one tin of Butter Beans and stir for a few times

    Nutritional value of Split Peas:

    1 cup includes Vitamins A B2 B3 B5 B6 B12 C D E and K
    Protein Polyunsaturated Fats Monounsaturated Fats

One of the most interesting functions:

Soluble fibre binds to bile acids that form cholesterol, and because that isn't absorbed in the intestines it exits the body taking the bile acids with it, thus blood cholesterol is lowered.

I hope this will be useful.

    Clifford
