  • The Armstrong 500 (1965)

Classic Motor Racing at its best.

The 1965 Armstrong 500 was the sixth running of the Bathurst 500 touring car race. Held at Mount Panorama Circuit, watch the legendary Barry (Bo) Seton with Midge Bosworth drive their Ford Cortina Mk1 GT500 to victory, then drive it home afterwards! All credit to Channel 7 Sport, Sydney

    Re: The Armstrong 500 (1965)

As a matter of interest, my brother-in-law raced at Bathurst a couple of time back in the 60's. I think it was Mini's he drove, also raced at Lakeside here in Brisbane a few times also.

Yes Ranald, but it was not in a competitive race, just a few laps in a very fast ex racecar.
I also have two nephews who race, but its speedway racing in their own speedway cars.

Ranald, I have actually found a photograph of the car Euan did his "Hot Laps" in................ he must be getting on now because the vehicle was only five [5] years old then. I can almost visualise him behind the wheel, leather coat and helmet, long gauntlets and flying goggles.
