Ohhhh, Ranald, you got the jump on me today!!! I disagree abut your #1, I believe it's "Tuesday". Having just printed this off, I think that #11 is "chicken, duck, turkey", or "chickens, ducks, turkeys". #6 I think is "I miss my outstanding friends". I also think that #10 is "table leaf". Just working on one other...Joan

In sticking my neck out, I think #12 is "daredevils". And on #11, it could be possible that it's "poultry".

        Re: Enigma Machine #73

Hi to all...I think Ranald's got #2, #7 and #9, and Joan's right with #1 (have to remember to figure in American pronunciation when I'm looking at these.) So far I've thought of: #3 "The lesser of two evils", had trouble making out some of #4, looking with a magnifying glass it could be "Lake Ontario", #5 "Daytime", #6 "Misunderstanding between friends". Not sure, but #8 could be "G-men" (Federal agents). #10 "Drop-leaf table", #12 "Drive round in circles". Nothing yet for #11, Joan's probably got it with "Poultry".
Just looking again; another possibility for #12: "Four-wheel drive".
        Cheers, John.

Well, John's come through again, good use of the magnifying glass, but there was a miss. #5 is not exactly the answer from Doug, but a good alternate that I will accept. Nobody has #11 yet, not even close. I won't even give a clue yet.

          Cheers,

          Hugh

Sorry Ranald that is still not Doug's answer for #5. Doesn't anyone speak bird?

              Cheers,

Thanks, Hugh - #11 "Foul language"?

Once again John comes to the rescue, Foul (fowl) language indeed. Unless you still looking for #5, that does it for this week, good work!

                        Cheers,

                        Hugh

Hi Hugh - I've been thinking more about the correct answer for #5; could it be a quote from Burns: "Now's the day and now's the hour"? (the time given by Doug is 2:36, Battle of Bannockburn started on the 23rd day of the sixth month.)
                          Probably a bit far-fetched. - John.

John I am glad you are not making up these puzzles they would be too hard for us. The answer is very simple so try an easy one.

                            Cheers,

                            Hugh
