  • US Elections 2016

At last! America goes to the polls and by tonight we'll know the result.

I confess to wondering if Donald Trump will win as the media seems to have always got it wrong when Trump was going for the Republican nomination. They were always writing him off and yet he kept winning. So... I am wondering if they have it wrong again.

And of course they did get it wrong yet again. Perhaps the whole media political establishment should resign as they all called it wrong.

Well it's going to be interesting for sure. I noted Nicola Sturgeon was very anti Trump so it will also be interesting to see what she had to say about this given that the USA is the second largest export market for Scotland.

        Re: US Elections 2016

Listened to trump on the BBC this morning after it was clear that he has won. If I closed my eyes I could have been listening to a died in the wool socialist. Now we just have to see if he delivers. Don't think he will be too enamoured of Trudeau...

It does look like the Keystone pipeline might go through now so Canada could do well. He also said he'd put Britain first after Brexit so it seems to me that Britain and Canada could both do well.

Does the President have say on the pipeline, I had thought that permission to build the pipe line was up to the individual States; i'm probably wrong but I did think their constitution gave specific areas of power to the President and the States controlled those areas not specified.

Interesting that Trump got fewer votes than either McCain or Romney and they lost.

              Cheers,

Hi, all...There's word that, with all the protests & petitions, there is a possibility that 20 of the electoral college voters might change their vote. This has been the worst election that I've seen in my lifetime. I have my own feelings, but even in my own family, I'm keeping MUM. (And I am Mom.) Joan :shamrock:

I was horrified Joan and I'm predicting the electoral college may well upset the apple cart.

When Bush 2 won his first term it was the first time since exits polls were conducted that they (they exit polls) were wrong....and I think when Kerry nran he conceded Ohio before the vote was counted and because he conceded I read where the vote would not be counted....Nixon lost by a very small margin to John Kennedy.
