  • Thoughts on a Sunday morning - 26th July 2020

Don’t forget to turn on a Church Service this Sunday . . . or one on any other day of the week as well. Explore the options . . . when we get back together I expect you may have some suggestions that we could incorporate at St Monica’s. Make notes, sent me an email . . .

One thing I have been doing during all this shut-in time is going through old journals and boxes of books and things I have brought back from my travels. I recently revisited one from the time when I was studying at St George’s College in Jerusalem in July of 2007. Which, may I assure you, is a VERY hot time in that part of the world. In my Journal I found this wee prayer I had composed and here it is to share with you.

Thank-you for this heat of the day

So that I may rejoice in the evening cool.

    AMEN

Hope it resounds with you these blistering days.

Have a wonderful week and see you next time . . .

    Nola

    Have a great Sunday . . .

Watch a service, sing some hymns, offer up some prayers of praise and thanks and a petition or too.

There are lots of sad stories coming out of the past few months, but I want to share one of the great successes: how churches of all denominations are using their roadside signs to spread Coronavirus advice in humour . . .

From St Peter & St Simon the Apostle Anglican on Bloor Street,
Love Thy Neighbour - Wash Thy Hands

    From Calvary Nazarene
Jesus can wash away sin - But you’ve still got to wash your hands

    Grace Brethren Church
6 feet apart today - is better than - 6 feet under tomorrow

    Edgeward Congregational
Services cancelled - God making house calls

    St Peter’s Lutheran
A time for war - A time for peace - A time to stay at home

    Grace Church United Methodist
Wasn’t expecting to give up this much for Lent

But if I had a sign, I would use the one from Southeast Baptist:
Say your prayers and wash your hands
‘cause Jesus and the virus are everywhere.

Have a wonderful week and just remember this wondrous heat next January when you, like all true Canadians, will start complaining about the cold. As for me, I will spend more time complaining about the dark!

    God bless and be safe.
