  • New Project: A Human Rights Museum in Winnipeg, MB?

In February of 2010, Past National Presidents of the Clan Ross Association of Canada, Denis Fletcher and Ian Mackay Ross, have brought to our attention that the new national Human Rights Museum has started construction in Winnipeg and is due to open in 2012. It will be the first national museum to be located outside the Ottawa/Hull Capital Region. Denis and Ian, representing the Manitoba Chapter of the Clan Ross Association of Canada, reported that they attended a preliminary meeting in January with the museum's staff in Winnipeg during their cross-country tour looking for public input on the content of this museum.

Interest in providing some local and national Clan Ross Canada support has been expressed IF the museum's content includes a display on the Highland Clearances.

    What are your thoughts?

The Clearances are very important to all Scottish history. Doug, do you get the History Channel in Canada? They have some great programmers relating to the Clearances. I feel if your representatives could contact the producers at the History Channel, they may let your museum have feeds into their shows?
