Gordon, my father was in the USAF in varied years, going to Okinawa in WWII, then out. Then went back into AF in the '50's, & was gone to South Korea (Taegu) for my 5th & 6th grade years. Then he continued in the service, was in Inspector General's office at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH area, where we lived, and in Dec. 1957, we got the word that he had orders to go over to England, to RAF Stn Bentwaters. I had already been accepted at Miami U. at Oxford, OH for college, but then decided it would be best to accompany my mom & dad, & younger brother to England. It was one of the best decisions of my life. My dad died in Nov 2002, at nearly 91. His grave is in Dayton, but one of the proudest moments I had, was to see a (I think) brass plaque on that site, showing that he had served as an officer, Major, in the USAF. I tend to like reading history of the WWII, but do very much appreciate our veterans. My oldest son also was in the USAF, & retired from there. Joan
