This beautiful old mansion has been in the news a lot lately. HRH Prince Charles has gone over his budget for charities with Dumfries House and is being called on the carpet.

A fantastic estate and house with an interesting hisory and collection of Chippendale furniture (with receipts and carriage information). Pity people think that it's in Dumfries & Galloway (That's Dumfriesshire & Galloway of old. The main town being Dumfries, the same as Ayr is the main town in Ayrshire). I'm mixed up, and I stay here.

Ayrshire, which was made up of Kyle, Carrick and Cunningham, is now made up of East, North and South Ayrshire.
Dumfries and Galloway is made up of Dumfriesshire and Galloway and Kirkcudbrightshire and Wigtonshire.
Dumfries House Estate is in East Ayrshire. Simples. ; )
