Tablets

I am thinking about buying a tablet. I have an Acer notebook computer (10" screen) which I use when travelling as it is smaller than my laptop. However, it is running Windows XP and is getting slower as it ages. I think it will expire soon and would like to replace it with a tablet. I only want to use the tablet when I travel so I can check emails etc. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should buy? I don't want to spend a lot on it.

I got the Kindle Fire myself but mainly so I could not only enjoy reading books but also to get a few magazines I like in colour. It has a web browser and does have email but don't use either of them. It cost me $79.00.
