The point they all make is that to run an Independent Scotland means we must first vote for an Independent Scotland. Should they win the referendum then that is the time to harden up on policies.

To be frank I don't agree with this position as I believe we need to know what is intended if we vote for Independence.

That's it in a nutshell. We are being asked to buy a pig in a poke and I am not for that. No matter that I disagree with the concept of Independence.

I believe the NO campaign is likely to launch by the end of this month Sandy.

I have said all along that I believe Scotland can be successful as an Independent country but that of course will depend on what political party runs Scotland and how they will proceed to govern the country.

Hi Al,
if they don't want to run any candidates how do they intend to get their policies implemented?
Last time I looked there was as Stock Exchange in Glasgow, but maybe that no longer exists (I have just checked and now I find that it closed about 40 years ago...)

Guess I should do a bit more research~~~

The bits of that I have read though do not encourage me to think that I would agree with them.
Pity we still don't have an organised "NO" campaign and that is what really worries me.

They are registered as a political party Sandy. They have said that they don't intend to run against the SNP as they see getting independence as key and they don't want to split any vote for independence. They have been working hard on how to organise Scotland once they gain Independence. They have already said they want our own currency "The Merk", our own Central Bank and Stock Exchange. They also don't want to be a member of the EU.

They have published a number of papers on various topics and they are worth reading.

Based on what I have read on ES I do not think so. And are they actually a registered "political party"?
Where have they had candidates standing for election?

Might be wrong about EFTA but there is another organisation that is larger than the EU and is democratic.

If only the "sheep" had not voted blindly for a party that promised no more Council Tax increases (resulting in a reduction of services), we would not be having any of these discussions.
We could then perhaps get on with fixing the UK economy...

I do not know what EFTA is as opposed to the EU. I do recall that acronym from many years ago and did not realise that there was a "parallel" still in existence.

Both the SNP and the SDA are far too socialist for me...

That's why I like the SDA policies as they state while we may need to go with the pound initially they propose we have our own "merk" and thus have our currency, central bank, stock exchange, etc.

They are also against joining the EU and instead would join EFTA.

The key to all this is that we need to have independence before we can make the decisions on what we do as an Independent country. Voting YES in the referendum doesn't mean we are then an Independent country. It merely starts the process towards becoming one.

The SNP propose to continue using the British Pound (as in Sterling) if Independence is gained.
So just like the Euro we would be in thrall to a bank that is not under our political control.
We currently see what is happening to the Euro precisely because there is no central political control over the finances of member states. One solution being strongly mooted is more political union in Europe. i.e. removal of a state's ability to control its own finances.

How does the SNP justify suggesting a model that is shown to be 'broken'. And that also would count if we 'opted' to join the Euro (which on my reading we would be forced to do if we ask to join the EU).

In my opinion another badly thought out (or maybe not even thought out) idea.
