    PONTIUS PILATE --- A SCOTCHMAN

    PONTIUS PILATE --- A SCOTCHMAN

    BY

    Ā

    "WHAT IS TRUTH"

    Ā

    Pontius Pilate was Scottish.

He was from a picturesque Highlands area known as Glen Lyon
and of a hamlet named Fortingall. Folk there, now, would give you
evidential details to prove to your soul that that was his home town.

    IT IS WRITTEN -------------

Then came JESUS forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe.
And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!!!

Pontius Pilate was related to the Scotch King, Metallanus, who was on favourable
terms with the government of Caesar. This was a foundation that began a journey
the end result being his becoming Roman Procurator Of Judea.

    IT IS WRITTEN -------------

Then saith Pilate unto HIM, Speakest THOU not unto me???
Knowest THOU not that I have power to crucify THEE,
and have power to release THEE
    ???

There is at Caesaria in Palestine an ancient slab that has a Latin inscription upon it which declares, "Hiberieum Pontius Pilatus".
At the time of Pontius Pilate the gaelic northerly areas of the British Isles were known to the Romans as Hibernia.

    IT IS WRITTEN -------------

Pilate saith unto HIM, What Is Truth???

Pontius Pilate was schooled by the Druids.
They had a password, "Truth against the world."
Pontius Pilate, with the Saviour of the world directly in front of him,
thought he was speaking to the Archdruid of archdruids.
He was expecting to hear a specific answer.

    JESUS CHRIST said nothing.

Pontius Pilate, his abomination was that he had the nerve asking such,
and waiting for Truth to say something.

    IT IS WRITTEN -------------

But they cried out, Away with HIM, away with HIM, crucify HIM.
Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your KING???

A Scotchman judged against the KING of kings.

    IT IS WRITTEN -------------

When the chief priests therefore and officers saw HIM, they cried out, saying,
Crucify HIM, crucify HIM. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye HIM, and
    c r u c i f y HIM: for I find no fault in HIM
    .

A Scotchman judged against Perfect Holiness.

    IT IS WRITTEN -------------

And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the CROSS.

A Scotchman, representing the sinners of the whole wide world,
    published the title of titles.

    O, repent, indeed.........

    CHRIST JESUS,

    C R U C I F I E D

Oh I hope not he wasn't the conscience riven prefect portrayed in the gospels. He was brutal enough that he was eventually ordered back to Rome because his treatment of people in Judaea was harsh enough that he risked Roman loss of control in the province.

His name provides two valuable clues to his background and ancestry. The family name, Pontius was that of a prominent clan among the Samnites, hill cousins of the Latin Romans. They had almost conquered Rome in several fierce wars. The Pontii were of noble blood, but when Rome finally absorbed the Samnites, their aristocracy was demoted to the Roman equestrian or middle-class order, rather than the senatorial order. It is Pilateís personal name Pilatus that proves almost conclusively that he was of Samnite origin. Pilatus means ďarmed-with-a-javelinĒ. The pilum or javelin was six feet long, half wooden and half pointed iron shaft, which the Samnite mountaineers hurled at their enemies with devastating effect. The Romans quickly copied it, and it was this pilum in fact, that made the Roman Empire possible.

Pontius pilate made a number of blunders during his time in Judeae resulting in rioting. He was, however able to hold down the position for ten years before it was decided to recall him to Rome
